Severe Weather Sirens

In the case of severe weather, the Miami County Communication Center’s Supervisor on Duty sets off the sirens based on the National Weather Service (NWS) issuance of a warning. The sirens are repeated every 10 minutes until the NWS lowers or drops the warning. There is no signal to end the warning.

If you hear the sirens and weather is threatening, take appropriate shelter and monitor the weather by television, radio, or through a weather app.

Weather Siren Testing

The siren tests are always at 10:00 AM on the second Wednesday of every month. If the weather looks threatening on that day and time we DO NOT set them off in order to avoid confusion. Any other time they are set off is in response to a notification from the National Weather Service.
