Magistrate James D. Utrecht

James D. Utrecht was appointed Magistrate of the Miami County Municipal Court on October 4, 2021.

Education

Jim attended Troy Schools, graduating in 1970. He attended the University of Cincinnati College of Business Administration, earning his BBA in 1974. Thereafter, he attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1977.

Previous Employment

He has practiced law in Troy since 1977, which he continues to do.

Personal Background

Jim resides in Troy, Ohio with his wife, Lynn. Their 4 children all attended Troy schools. They participate in many community activities, and Jim has served on a number of non-profit Boards of Directors over his career, including MCRC, Strawberry Festival Trustee, Troy Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board in 1990, Troy Country Club President in 2010, HTM Area Credit Union, and many others.

Jim’s hobbies include golf, cooking, and spending time with his family.

How can I pay for a traffic citation?
All Traffic citations are paid, in advance of your scheduled Court date on the ticket, and to the Miami County Clerk of Courts. You can post the bond amount.
  • Directly to the Clerk's Office on the third floor of the Courthouse
  • Mail your payment to the Miami County Clerk of Courts, 215 W. Main Street, Troy, Ohio 45373
  • Call the Clerk's Office for questions about the amount due, and for other forms of payment at (937) 440-3910
Q: How do I find out when my Court date is?
You should have received a Court notice, however, select the "Courtview" Public Access icon on the Court's website that will allow you to search your case for specific information.
Q: Where do I go for a Marriage License?
The Miami County Probate Court, located in the Miami County Safety building (second floor), is where you will apply and receive a license.
